Ingredients

Ingredients for this Japanese chicken teriyaki recipe include

  • 1 pound boneless chicken breasts cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tbsp peanut oil you can use any cooking oil on hand
  • 1 packet teriyaki sauce
  • Optional toppings toasted sesame seeds and green onions

Ingredients for the teriyaki sauce itself include

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic peeled and minced
  • 2 tbps mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tbps rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbps cornstarch
  • 1/2 tbps sesame oil
  • 1/4 tbps ground ginger

Instructions

  1. First you must season the chicken with a generous amount of salt and pepper, then set it aside.

  2. Use a large sauté pan or wok to put the chicken in after. Heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat and stir chicken only occasionally until it is cooked all the way through. There should be no pink coloration when you cut into the chicken.

  3. As the chicken is cooking, prepare the teriyaki sauce.

  4. After the chicken has been prepared, pour the teriyaki sauce over it. Toss the chicken in the sauce to combine them until the chicken is fully coated all over. Keep cooking until the sauce comes to a simmer and begins to thicken.

  5. Remove from heat and serve right away. You may choose to garnish it with any of your favorite toppings if you want.

  6. Making the teriyaki sauce:

    Simply whisk all of the ingredients together thoroughly until sauce has a smooth consistency.
