I love to taste food from all over the world because I cannot sit back and taste the same dishes again and again. Although I am from India and we have versatile food. You visit India and go to each different states, cities or even villages there you will explore a lot of new recipes.
But I like to have my tongue travel to the rest of the world for new-new dishes that I can cook in my own kitchen. When the first time I heard about Toad in the hole mary berry I felt like a little weird, you see!
Well, there is nothing wrong but the name is a little different but when I taste it, I just realized how tasty it really is. The sausages cooked with smooth batter bring it to a fabulous texture and so much of taste that anyone can like about it.

Do you want to do some magic in your kitchen with a few ingredients to make super hot jaw opening dish then go ahead and make this toad in the hole mary berry. Toad in the hole mary berry is one of the most liked food in British continent and now it's spreading the aroma to the worldwide.
- 3 oz or 100 gram of full fat milk
- 1 egg white
- Kosher salt
- Black pepper
- 75 grams of plain flour
- 4 good sausages
If you are using reserved sausages then first you need to defrost the sausages before you go ahead to cook. First sausages need to come to room temperature then add this to a pan and fry them until it turns brown from the outside. We don't need to overcook the sausages.
Set your oven to 220 degrees and gas mark to 7.
Use a bowl and add egg white, plain flour, and full-fat milk. Whisk it well by stirring using a spoon or spatula making sure there are no lumps remained with the mixture. (This is very necessary to prepare a nice mixture.)
Sprinkle some salt and black pepper and mix it again until it dissolves nicely. Once it becomes a thick batter take your sausages and shift them to the oven dish. Have some room among them so they can cook nicely.
Now pour the reserved batter onto the sausages and give a little shake so it gently spreads all over.
Cook it for 20 to 25 minutes keeping an eye for it doneness. Don't open the oven doors every now and then but only for a few times for proper cooking.
Serve it hot!
You can also add a few herbs and spices of your choice to enhance the flavor of the dish. For me, I like to add garlic paste and thick sausages of beef.
To make this dish a very super healthy you can add vegetables of your choices. You can add carrot, potatoes, tomato or any type of vegetables that you like to add. For this you cannot directly use them but you need to first boil them until them well cooked and add at the final step when you add the sausage to cook.
This will increase the taste of entire dish and add the veggies taste to the toad in the hole mary berry that we like to eat in different ways.
Milk with the plain flour, eggs, and spices make a nice batter that ends up with a fluffy texture and cooked in the oven with the sausages of your taste makes it a wonderful dish.
The recipe is pretty cheaper and loved especially by the kinds and infants. You can try out a little few different ingredients or even vegetables like carrot, tomato, potato, beans or anything that you like to eat and cook with the toad in the hole for a little different taste.
The inclusion of a few more ingredients does the real magic and makes it entirely new recipes. This is one of those old-fashioned recipes that are liked by the modern world people so much.
If you are using healthier chicken sausages then it is really good but you can use porks or beef as a thick meat. Also, you can try out meat substitutes like Quorn or anything that is easily available to you.
