Ingredients

Ingredients for the smoked beef brisket recipe

  • 4 lb beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin powder
  • 3/4 tbps mustard powder
  • 1/2 tbsp black better

BBQ sauce (optional)

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cup cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp black pepper, onion powder and mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. First place the rub in a bowl and mix to combine.

  2. Spread the rub all over the brisket using your hands. You can choose to leave it in the fridge for a few hours.

  3. Combine the BBQ sauce ingredients in a slow cooker, mixing thoroughly. Next add the brisket (you might have to squish it in.

  4. Cook in the slow cooker for 8 hours and put onto a tray when it is done.

  5. Pour the liquid in the slower cooker in to a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over med-high heat and reduce until it starts to thicken to a syrupy consistency.

  6. Drizzle oil over the brisket and roast in a 200C/390F oven for not more than 15 minutes (until brown spots begin to appear.)
