  • 1/2 pound of grated or scrambled fresh cheese or 250 gram
  • 1 green chili finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 tbsp grated or very finely chopped ginger
  • 2 medium sized onions finely chopped
  • 1 big tomato finely chopped
  • 1 small capsicum chopped in small pieces
  • 1/4 tbsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp mustard oil or olive oil
  • 2 1/2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste


  1. On medium flame heat oil in a pan and crackle whole cumin seeds. Add grated ginger, crushed garlic, and finely chopped green chili and sauté for one minute.

  2. Now, add finely chopped onions and on medium flame fry it until it turns golden brown. (Approximately 3-4 minute)

  3. Add finely chopped tomato and capsicum and mix it well. Stir and cook until the tomato becomes tender and soft. (Approximately 2-3 minute)

  4. Now, add garam masala powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix it well. Add milk and mix it so the mixture soaks the milk. Cook it for one minute.

  5. Add grated cheese or cottage cheese and lemon juice. Mix everything very nicely. Cook the mixture for another 5 minute on low flame. Stir it occasionally.

  6. Turn off the flame and transfer paneer bhurji in a serving bowl. Garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with paratha or bread of your choice.

Recipe Notes

Soak the cheese into water for 10 minutes and shift it to bowl a minute before you use this in recipe. It will enhance the taste of paneer bhurji recipe.
