We are going to learn how to make chilli paneer recipe today. On a day when you are ready to have a twist with a new recipe, I will suggest you to make chilli paneer recipe for your family. It is easy to cook and serve with noodles or veg fried rice.

  • 7 oz or 200 gram cheese cubes also known as paneer
  • 1 big size onion finely chopped
  • 1 big capsicum sliced in long strip
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 inch very finely chopped ginger
  • 3 green chillis slit
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Ajinomoto
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp green chilli sauce
  • 2 tbsp soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp spring onion finely chopped

For frying

  • 3 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 6 tbsp corn flour
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce
  • 4 tbsp mustard oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as necessary


  1. Take a pan and heat 4 tablespoon oil on medium flame. Once it starts leaving flavored smell add frying ingredients followed by a little water. Cook it to make a watery sauce.

  2. Add cheese cubes and fry it until cheese cubes turns golden brown in color from all sides. Shift the cheese to a bowl and set it aside.

  3. Add all the sauces in a bowl. Use a spoon to mix it gently and set it aside for further use.

  4. Add little oil in the same pan and stir fry ginger, garlic and green chilli for 1 minute.

  5. Add onions and capsicum and stir fry for 2-3 minutes or until they get translucent.

  6. Add sugar and salt and stir fry for 30 seconds.

  7. Add sauces mixture and chilli powder to the pan and stir fry for 2-3 minutes or until they mixes well with other ingredients.

  8. Now add the cheese cubes into the mixture stir and coat the cheese cubes with the mixture.

  9. Add the spring onion and give it a good mix. Cook for 1 minute.

  10. Here goes the delicious and yummy chilli paneer/chilli cheese to be served hot with noodles or rice.

Recipe Notes

For a wonderful flavored taste you can marinate the cheese cubes with all purpose flour and corn flour. For this you need to make a paste of all purpose flour and corn flour by adding a little water and coat it on cheese cubes from all sides. Marinate it for minimum 45 minutes or maximum by 4 hours.

Instead of using simple pan, use a non stick or heavy pan so it won't let any ingredients burn during stir and fry.

If you are health conscious fry the cheese cubes with very little oil and let them to be turning only little golden in color before you off it to heat. It will make it less calories diet.
