- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- Kosher salt
- 5 cups of fine sliced of apples or 8 medium-sized apples
- Double pie crust
- 1 large egg white
- 2 tablespoons of butter sliced into thin pieces
- Granulated sugar
Use a medium-sized mixing bowl and add 3 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and dash of kosher salt. Mix it well. Now, add the sliced apples pieces and mix it well so the apple pieces get nicely coated with the other ingredients.
Take the pie crust roll out and shift this to a deep 9 inches pie plate. Take the apple pieces and add this to uncooked pie and add the butter as topping.
Use second pie crust to top and crimp the edges of the pie and cut a few slits on the top of it so the steam can perfectly goes in or comes out.
Take a small mixing bowl and add large egg whites and 3 teaspoons of water and mix them nicely by whisking. Now brush the top using some water and also add a little sugar.
It is ready to bake now. Change the oven temperature to 450 degrees F for 15 minutes then change the temperature again to 350 degrees F and let it bake for next 40 minutes while keeping an eye on it. Once you see it has turns golden brown in color it means it is completely cooked now.
If you find centre has not cooked properly but the edges started coming to golden brown in color then you can use a foil paper to cover the edges on second batch of cooking on 350 degrees F. It will help the pie to cook from all sides properly.
Take the pie out of the oven once it turns golden brown in color and let it cool down for next 10 minutes before you ready to serve it.
