Apple and blackberry pie are my all time favorite and I learn this classic dessert from my grandma. She had always good hand making the pie dishes and she always knew the British classic recipes and me always thankful for her to teach me these recipes.
The fat blackberries when throws the purple juices blend the sweet taste into the melting apples come out to be as perfect as any British dish.
The best part I like about this Apple and blackberry pie recipe is that it is super easy to make, quick to cook and ensures you are going to make a perfect dessert for your friends and family. Not only the cooked dish taste so great but the leftover can be transferred to a refrigerator and can be used to serve for many days.
Well, you can use any apples of your choice but for me, I have made a lot of pie dishes using different apples but Bramley apples are my favorite ones because it gives a splendid taste.

Have you hassle finding a perfect tea time treat or a British classic dessert then you have arrived at a perfect place because we are going to learn apple and blackberry pie. Adding the blackberries with the cooked apples does the real magic for a crunchy crispy wonderful delight.
To make pastry
- 200 grams or 7 oz of all purpose flour
- 100 grams or 4 oz of butter
- 3 tablespoons of chilled water
- Kosher salt
To make the filling
- 1 lb of peeled and sliced apples
- 5 tablespoons of water
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 50 grams or 5 oz of blackberries
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 oz or 20 gram of butter
- 1 tablespoon of milk
Preheat your oven to 425 Degrees F and gas 7.
Take a large mixing bowl and add flour, kosher salt, and butter and mix it well then add little by little water and knead it to make a soft and smooth dough. Do this as fast as you can to prevent the dough to turn warm. Add more water to make a smooth dough, if required.
Use a plastic wrap and put the dough into it and transfer this to a refrigerator to make this chilled for the next 15 to 20 minutes.
Take a large pan and add plenty of water with the lemon juice when it comes to boil turns the flame to low and add the peeled and sliced apples and simmer it until it cooked well.
Add blackberries and sugar to the large pan and cook it for a while then take everything off the flame. Add the butter to the pan and wait until everything comes to normal temperature.
Line a 7 inches pie dish and roll out the half of the pastry to it. Add the apple and blackberries to the pastry.
Now again, roll out the reserved half pastry to make a fine lid. Dampen the edges with a little water then cover and crimp the edges so it gets a nice texture.
Brush the upper side of the pie with the help of milk then bake the a for the next 20 to 23 minutes.
There you go! Our apple and blackberry pie is ready to serve now. Serve it hot or cold as you like.
If you don’t have enough time you can use a stored bought pastry but I won’t recommend because of I sometimes afraid if they are not healthy enough just like the one we can cook at home.
The apple and blackberries are the perfect combination to make a delightful pie and anyone who has eaten this really like to eat again and again.
The choice of apples can different the taste and flavor so it is always good to try out different apples or you can also try out to mix several different types of apple to change the taste.
